Trough Liner Integrates Technologies

Operator Control is Key to Yields

The XL Super Trough System is based on a fabricated liner that integrates three key technologies to create the most ideal environment for algae biomass production, and the most reasonable cost: a durable reinforced liner material, an aeration emitter and a liquid dispersing emitter.

First the liner material is designed to be installed mechanically to lower the cost of installation. Using proven agricultural equipment modified to the dimensions of the Super Trough, we can install systems at a rapid pace which is necessary for large-scale installations.

  • Fabricated Liner for Fast Installation.
  • Integrated Aeration Emitter
  • Integrated Injector System

XL Renewables has desinged a unique method for integrating an aeration emitter into the trough Liner. This allows for the uniform distribution of a CO2 enriched airstream to feed the algae and maintain the proper pH levels for optimized yields. This system uses 80% less horsepower per acre than a high-rate raceway system with paddlewheels.

In addition to the aeration emitter, the Liner also includes a liquid disbursal emitter to inject water, fertilizers, and other inputs to manage and control infestation. The system uniformly distributes crop inputs over a 40 acre field in less than five minutes for rapid response and operator control.

The XL Super Trough Liner, in combination with the aeration blower, and injector system, is designed to provide the operator the greatest possible control over the growing environment. Computer controls provide monitoring and scheduling tools to optimize system management.

The XL Super Trough Liner and other components are patent pending.
